Binaural Beats Guide

What are Binaural Beats?
Binaural beats work by playing two slightly different frequencies, one in each ear. Your brain processes the difference between them and produces a third "beat" at that frequency. For example, 120 Hz in the left ear and 130 Hz in the right ear creates a binaural beat of 10 Hz. Since each ear needs its own signal, headphones are recommended.
This effect encourages your brainwaves to synchronize with the beat frequency, a process called entrainment. By choosing specific frequencies, you can guide your brain toward states associated with relaxation, focus, meditation, or deep sleep. This makes binaural beats a practical tool for taking control of your mental state.
What are the Different Brain Waves?
Your brain produces five types of brainwaves, each linked to a different state of consciousness: Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta, and Gamma.
Higher frequencies correspond to alert, active states. Lower frequencies correspond to relaxed, sleepy states. Understanding this spectrum helps you choose the right frequency for your goal.
Here is the widely accepted brainwave spectrum:
Delta 0.1-4Hz
Benefits: Deep sleep, physical recovery, deep relaxation, restoration
Theta 4-8Hz
Benefits: Meditation, creativity, deep relaxation, access to the subconscious mind, emotional acceptance
Alpha 8-13Hz
Benefits: Relaxed focus, stress reduction, accelerated learning, flow state, clarity, motivation
Beta 13-30Hz
Benefits: Focused attention, high-level cognition, problem solving, stimulates energy
Gamma 30-100Hz
Benefits: High-level information processing, cognitive enhancement, peak awareness, transcendental states
Changes in the Brain
As you listen, your brainwaves gradually fall into step with the beat frequency. Many people notice effects within their first session, though the experience varies from person to person and tends to deepen with consistent practice.
